There are just some scents that can not be captured through steam distillation, enfleurage or pressing. Many plants actually have no scent whatsoever, though they evoke thoughts of wild, tropical florals. That's where fragrance oils come in -- when we can't find the scent we want in nature, we turn to fragrances for the answer.
How are fragrance oils made and why should we use them?
By blending aroma chemotypes and natural plant extracts (essential oils), Snowdrift Farm creates a unique line of fragrance oils. Some scents are just not extractable from plants, such as strawberry and cucumber, and so we must turn to synthetic materials. Other scents, such as rose, are very costly. We use aroma chemotypes to mimic these fine scents. Snowdrift Farm specializes in fine fragrance oil duplications. You can count on us to bring you oils that aren't available anywhere else.
Our line of fragrances is ever-expanding; some, like our limited editions, may only be available seasonally. If you'd like us to locate a scent for you that's not currently on the list, send us an email, and we'll see if we can find it.
We recommend using .25 oz. of fragrance oil per pound of melt & pour glycerin or cold process soap mix. Our fragrance oils are 100% cold process and melt & pour soap safe, and may be used in cosmetic, body care, potpourri and other home fragrance applications.
Light, bright and aquatic, our version of Armani's Acqua di Gio sparkles with fresh jasmine
and rosemary on top, a heart of aquatic, ocean breezes and a sweet drydown of cedarwood, patchouli and rick roses. Acqua di Gio has been very a very successful scent for the House of Armani.
First introduced in 1996, it has ranked as the Number One scent for men for over a decade. It's no wonder -- it smells great on every man! Women love it, too -- so
much, in fact, that Armani created Acqua di Gio for Women. We'll have to look into that...

Our Amazon tigerlily open with the green and musky scent of a lily, with a heart of jasmine and a gorgeous bottom note of sandalwood and blonde woods. Aromatics Elixir, Clinique type
I first stumbled upon Aromatics Elixir at the Clinique counter at Macy's in Roosevelt Field in, um, 1975 or '76. A rare splurge for a college girl, I purchased a bottle and treasured it. It's still on my dressing table, all these years later (no, not the very same bottle!).
What makes Aromatics Elixir a classic scent? It has that perfect floriental blend, opening with a rush of roses that wends seamlessly with a meaningful middle of oakmoss, jasmine, ylang ylang and muguet. The bottom of patchouli, musk, amber and sandalwood anchor the scent with a long-lasting drydown. This floriental is comprised of deeper, darker notes than most others, which is why many find it the "perfect scent for winter" -- or maybe, it's just the patchouli.
